

Richard Medrano
Richard Medrano is the Artistic Director of the City of Angels Master Chorale and Children’s Chorus. His distinguished conducting career spans from San Francisco to New York, across the United States, and internationally. Under his direction, the chorale has toured Italy, where they had the honor of performing for Pope John Paul II. In Germany, he facilitated a cultural exchange with the renowned Kaiser Heinrich Choir Bamberg, one of the top five choirs in Bavaria.
With over 20 years of experience as Director of Music in prominent churches across the Los Angeles area, Mr. Medrano developed one of the largest and most respected music ministries within the L.A. Archdiocese. A recognized leader in the field of liturgical music, he is frequently invited to lead workshops and clinics for choir directors and cantors throughout Southern California.
Mr. Medrano has also collaborated with the Los Angeles Opera to pioneer community opera initiatives in the region. He has prepared both adult and children’s choruses for renowned conductor James Conlon and served as a Guest Conductor at Carnegie Hall, debuting with the City of Angels Master Chorale. His choirs have performed twice with the legendary composer John Rutter. Additionally, he was the voice conductor for Disney's Kingdom Hearts III World Tour.
Before transitioning to conducting, Mr. Medrano was an accomplished opera singer, performing with various opera companies. Notably, he sang the Berlioz Requiem with Robert Shaw at Carnegie Hall as part of Shaw’s "Preparing a Masterwork" series.
Maestro Medrano's television and film credits include serving as music judge on Killer Karaoke (truTV), appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, singing on the special Christmas episode of Beverly Hills 90210, conducting for Disney's Live Dumbo movie trailer, and the KCET-televised L.A. Holiday Celebration at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. His choir was also featured in the Hallmark movie A Grandpa for Christmas, starring Ernest Borgnine. Additionally, he has conducted music for various anime films composed by Marth, as well as a rock opera for television composed by Yoav Goren.
